Baiba Ladiga inspires with her energy and creative spirit. She is a Latvian designer, stylist and fashion illustrator who works without breaks and is always keen to improve, learn and grow.

When she was just 13 years old, Baiba already knew that one day she would study at the Art Academy of Latvia. Still today she has maintained the restless urge inside her to tell a story through art and fashion. Nowadays, Ladiga feels that there is too much mass production and she craves for a revolution that will create something memorable and meaningful.

Ladiga has recently moved back to Latvia from China where she spent last 6 years, initially working as a fashion design teacher at Raffles Fashion Institute, and then as a fashion stylist for several well-known clients. She collaborated with magazines such as Elle, got involved in commercial videos for cars and hotels and worked in movies where they used Baiba’s own designed costumes. Aside from that, she begun to draw fashion illustrations and her work has been published in several books. She has also cooperated with Vogue (China) and has participated in group and individual exhibitions in LA, London and Shanghai.

When asked about how she manages to work in so many areas at once, Baiba admits that there is some assistance needed on her behalf, but in general, Baiba is adamant that you can achieve everything you want in life with hard work.

Another interesting fact about Baiba is that she regularly wears her own designed clothes and has an understandable reason behind it: “I think it is logical because then I can feel what needs to be improved so I can reach the maximum quality”, she says. “I usually don’t sew the collections myself, I make prototypes and I leave sewing to professionals, therefore wearing what they have made is important to me”.

We also asked Baiba what motivates her to move forward and be so active. She replies that it is her inner energy, restlessness and discipline. She always wonders how far can she go to make her dreams come true and adds “life is really short and my goal is to live it in a way that I can be proud of it and make others feel good too”.

Baiba says that it is important to not sink into provincialism, laziness or plagiarism and that for her the biggest achievement is the ability to create feelings in herself and others. After so much success, Baiba Ladiga is definitely one of the most influential and talented people in Latvian fashion industry and Brillante feels proud to present her.
